Look, team -- passing the For The People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is an imperative for this Congress.

But Mitch McConnell, Senate Republicans, and the filibuster are getting in the way.

Here's what our chair Eric H. Holder, Jr. had to say:

"At a moment in time when the Republican Party has grown more comfortable manipulating our political system for their partisan advantage, the Senate should not allow the filibuster to block passage of either of these bills."

The fact is, the Senate filibuster is just another way that the minority party can wield disproportionate power. President Obama called it a "Jim Crow relic."

Considering the threat posed to our democracy by Donald Trump, his enablers in the GOP, and the January 6 rioters, we can't allow the filibuster to prevent us from passing essential democracy reform legislation.

The For the People Act (which 67 percent of voters support!) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would ban the gerrymandering of congressional districts and restore critical voting rights protections that Republicans have been trying to dismantle. We need them now.

Add your name if you agree that the filibuster CANNOT get in the way of this critical legislation.
