We here at WisDems know that Trump should be convicted and disqualified from holding office again after he blatantly incited a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last month. But Ron Johnson and the members of the GOP who have for so long chosen Trump over democracy, are once again making excuses and disregarding the rule of law to support him.
Ron Johnson is the most vulnerable GOP Senator in the next election cycle. He constantly ignores the needs of Wisconsinites on the economy, the pandemic response, and more. Now, he is one of the senators who will not fulfill his responsibility to hold Trump accountable for his actions.
Ron Johnson has used every wild excuse in the book to avoid this impeachment trial: from claiming it is unconstitutional to blaming Nancy Pelosi for the riot.
