Dear John,

 

I’ve been concerned about this for years, like millions of other Americans.

 

But it wasn’t until I came to Washington myself – to represent the good people of Oklahoma’s First District in the U.S. House – that I saw for myself the lengths politicians will go to in order to hold onto power.

 

Today, we have FAR too many career politicians in Washington who ARE NOT working in the best interests of our country and the American people.

 

Desperate to stay in office for decades on end rather than get a job in the real world, they say and do anything to pander to voters and their backers. They are bought and paid for by the special interests, and they’ve forgotten who they work for.

 

John, I’m leading the charge to get Congress on the road to real reform and restore public trust in our government. I hope to have you standing with me.

 

I’ve filed a series of bills now to shake up how our federal government is run, with term limits at the top of my priority list. We must end this prolonged era of “career” politicians running our country once and for all.

 

It’s time to put citizens back in charge – people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life and professions, who run to serve their home communities and our nation.

 

Today, the “game” is to occupy a seat for years or even decades, amass personal power, and then climb the ladder to high-paid lobbying jobs and cushy seats on corporate boards. Our Founding Fathers couldn’t have even imagined what we see today.
