John —
New York has a closed primary system, which means that only voters who are registered with a party are able to vote in the upcoming primary election. And nearly 1 out of every 5 voters in Manhattan is not registered with a party.
But here’s how that affects my campaign, and other progressives running during this critical election year: many non-affiliated voters are disaffected progressives who would support us if they had the chance.
But because of the closed primary system, non-affiliated voters will have no voice in the primary—unless they change their registration before Sunday.
Our campaign is working to register thousands of voters as Democrats to give progressives as strong a voice as possible in the primary. Can you donate to our campaign to help us get them registered in time for Sunday’s deadline?
Donate to Register New Democrats
Our campaign has identified thousands of progressive Manhattan voters who support creating more affordable housing, holding Wall Street accountable, and combating climate change, but are currently registered as non-affiliated voters.
By adding these voters we are not only strengthening the Democratic party as a whole, but giving progressives an even louder voice!
So please chip in what you can to help our campaign register the thousands of progressives as Democrats before Sunday’s deadline!
Thank you,
Lindsey
