Indivisibles,
A shred of good news on the impeachment front: yesterday, six GOP senators
broke with their party to move the impeachment trial forward.
Six is a start, but we have work to do -- to reach a conviction, at least
17 Republicans will need to vote to convict Trump of incitement of
insurrection. That’s an uphill battle, but it’s not impossible. Trump’s
legal team has already started doing the work for us: even the likes of
John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham admitted they were confused and
that Trump’s defense didn’t address the question at hand.
If the Senate doesn’t convict Trump, there’s no way to disqualify him from
holding office in the future. Our job now is to keep applying relentless
pressure on senators to show them their constituents are watching and
demand accountability. There are two key ways you can support this work
right now:
1. [ [link removed] ]Call both your senators, today and throughout the trial, to demand
they vote to convict and disqualify Trump. We can’t stand by while
Republicans let Trump skate past, inciting violence and disrupting the
peaceful transition of power without accountability or justice.
2. [ [link removed] ]Make a donation to Indivisible Project to support all our work.
Keeping these call pages up and running, developing new guidance to
respond to the latest news, funding all the digital tools we use to
communicate with activists -- it all costs money. We’re
grassroots-funded, which means we rely on you to make that all
possible.
We have the power to make sure senators are hearing the message about
Trump’s guilt from multiple angles: from the House impeachment managers in
the trial itself and directly from their constituents every day. We really
do have a chance to ensure accountability for Trump’s actions and start
the process of healing our democracy, but it’s going to take hard work and
a massive movement to succeed. Thanks for doing your part.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
