When I'm not representing North Carolinians in D.C., I'm traveling across the state talking to constituents as much as possible.
I recently hosted a town hall at Camp Lejeune to hear from servicemembers and their families. Fixing the issues with privatized military housing has been one of my top priorities.
I met NC veterans with VA Secretary Robert Wilkie. I'm proud of my work with Secretary Wilkie and President Trump to improve the VA for our veterans. We are making steady progress.
I always love stopping by Bitty & Beau's Coffee in Wilmington. Their work to promote job opportunities for people with disabilities is truly inspiring.
I heard from North Carolinians and talked about finding solutions to lowering health care costs, striking trade deals that benefit American workers, and keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals while protecting Second Amendment rights.
And I visited Aces for Autism Child Development Center. They are providing transformational access to therapy in the Greenville region.
I also announced a bill to expedite Hurricane Matthew assistance for North Carolinians still waiting for help.
As of August 2019, the state administration has only allocated 7% of its CDBG-DR funds for Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts. Please watch this video that highlights the stories of North Carolinians still trying to get their lives back to normal nearly three years after Hurricane Matthew caused historic flooding damage.
President Trump also signed four more bills I co-sponsored into law!
These four bipartisan bills will give our small businesses, family farmers, national guard and reservists, and veterans the economic relief they need when falling on hard times.
Thank you for reading my e-newsletter, I will continue to work hard to represent all North Carolinians in the Senate and deliver results. If you or someone you know is having trouble with the VA or any federal agency, please don't hesitate to contact my office.
All the best,
