The impeachment trial kicked off yesterday with most Republican Senators falsely alleging that the trial is unconstitutional.

The party of “law and order” contends that, because Donald Trump is gone from the White House, we don’t need to follow through on constitutional formalities such as an impeachment trial for the crimes he committed as president. The same Republicans who claimed Trump should be immune from investigation or prosecution while in office now want you to believe he should be immune again after leaving office.

We disagree. Most Americans disagree.

This isn’t rocket science. Donald Trump incited an insurrection that was televised for the whole world to see. We may have beaten him in an election, but now we need to hold him accountable so that we never see the kind of violence we saw on January 6th, 2021 ever again.
