We have a clear idea of what to expect coming out of Donald Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate.
Just a few weeks after witnessing Trump call on his supporters to violently storm the Capitol building and attack their colleagues, 45 Republican senators voted to dismiss Trump's impeachment trial entirely.
No matter how this trial ends, one thing is clear: The GOP is now almost entirely defined by Trump loyalism, and we can't afford to sit back and watch.
But we remain hopeful for our future. As MSNBC's Joyce Vance put it, “If Senate Republicans do fail to hold Trump accountable, it will be up to the American people to do it at the ballot box,” just like we did in 2020.
It won't be an easy task, friend. Republicans have already filed 106 bills in 28 states to restrict voting access in upcoming elections. And all around the country, we're seeing Republicans fill their campaign coffers by promoting conspiracy theories, appealing to white nationalists, and likening themselves to Trump.
We know what we can accomplish together. And right now, we're ramping up the fight to replace every far-right Republican in Washington with a progressive leader who will lead the fight for everyday Americans.
But we won't succeed if we don't catch up to the Republican dark money machine. The GOP is counting on us losing grassroots support, and right now, they're being proven right.
