The impeachment trial is under way and we have just a few days to convict Donald Trump and prohibit him from running again for office.

There is no defense for Trump inciting an insurrection against the country he swore to defend. Every argument put forward by his legal team and his far-right political allies has been a joke. Yet still, right-wing senators are indicating that they’re willing to ignore reality and shut their eyes, ears, and minds to the facts of the case against Trump.
As Rep. Jamie Raskin, the head impeachment manager for the House (and former People For Senior Fellow), said in the opening day of the Senate trial yesterday, they’re trying to create a “January exception” in the Constitution … a legal black hole that will allow a corrupt president to do anything with complete impunity in their final weeks in office.
And yes, that is as ridiculous and dangerous as it seems. We can’t let them get away with it.
