Dear John:

My name is Neill Franklin. I’m the executive director for the Law Enforcement Action Partnership, as well as a 34-year law enforcement veteran of the Maryland State Police and Baltimore Police forces. As a law enforcement professional, I have witnessed firsthand the havoc wreaked on our communities by destructive criminal justice policies. The Law Enforcement Action Partnership works to unite and mobilize the voice of law enforcement in support of drug policy and criminal justice reforms that will make communities safer by focusing law enforcement resources on the greatest threats to public safety, promoting alternatives to arrest and incarceration, addressing the root causes of crime, and working toward healing police-community relations.

I want to thank you for connecting with our organization. It is the involvement of people like you that allows us to grow ever stronger as a credible and esteemed leader in the fight to advance justice and public safety solutions.

In 2002, five retired police officers founded Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit composed of police and other criminal justice professionals dedicated to educating the public about the harms of drug prohibition. In January 2017, while reaffirming our commitment to ending the War on Drugs, LEAP became the Law Enforcement Action Partnership in order to advocate for solutions across a broader range of criminal justice issues, including police-community relations, incarceration, drug policy, harm reduction, and global issues.

As an educational organization, the Law Enforcement Action Partnership strives to accomplish its goals through its speakers bureau consisting of approximately 150 highly-regarded and qualified law enforcement agents and officers, prosecutors, corrections officers, and judges, all volunteering their time to educate the public on why and how our criminal justice policies must change. When our speakers share their stories, facts, and figures, people leave with a different perspective – we change minds.
