We need a climate champion fighting for us in Congress, not a fossil fuel fanatic like Representative Katko. Here in central and western New York, we currently have a representative in Congress who does not hear what we have to say. My fake-moderate Republican opponent John Katko has a score from the League of Conservation Voters of just 27%. He wants a pat on the back because he "bucks" his party on the existence of climate change.


But believing the science and acknowledging the crisis is not enough, that’s the first step. The question is, what are you going to do about it. So let’s talk about what John Katko has done about it:

John Katko voted to dump coal ash in our streams.
John Katko voted to keep us out of the Paris Climate Accord.
John Katko has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from the fossil fuel industry.
It is time that we had someone willing to take the bold action we need to protect our families. That's why I signed the Sunrise Pledge, promising to never take a dime of money from the fossil fuel industry, from its executives, or from its lobbyists.

I promise to be the environmental advocate we need, but I cannot win this election alone. We need 197 more people to step up by September 30 to meet our end-of-quarter fundraising goal so we can stay on track to flipping this seat. We have so much work to do:

We have to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
We have to protect our waterways.
We have to stop chemical pollution.
We have to invest in a green energy economy that will not only battle climate change but bring millions of good jobs so that our young people and the generations after them have a fair shot at success.
And finally, we have to end the influence of big money in politics and make sure that our policy is never again subject to the whims of the fossil fuel industry.
I will never stop fighting until we have done everything we can to protect this planet for those of us who are living here now and for the generations to come, but I need you to stand with me now.
