The impeachment trial began yesterday.
Trump’s lawyers argued that the trial should be dismissed because it will “tear this country apart.”
Let’s get one thing straight: the biggest threat to our country would be to allow Trump’s actions to go unpunished. If a president knows they can violate the Constitution at the end of their term and get away with it, it is an invitation to future abuses of power.
