Hi,

By 2018, I already had serious concerns about the direction my party was taking when I suddenly found myself out of a job. The campaign I was managing in the Republican primary for Alabama’s Senate seat came up short against a candidate who made national headlines for his radical views and detestable behavior. In the aftermath of that loss, I thought a lot about the type of leaders we were electing and about what I could do to ensure I was supporting the right ones. Fortunately, New Politics was hiring and offered me the opportunity to work with values-driven leaders who put country first.

Now, after last month’s insurrection, and with the Senate convened for its second impeachment trial in just 13 months, I’m again reflecting on the state of our democracy and the future of the GOP. If servant leaders don’t step forward to fill the ranks, tribalism and political cowardice will continue to win out.

Last cycle, I had the pleasure of working with Representative Peter Meijer (R-MI) as an advisor to his campaign. As a freshman in Congress, he has already distinguished himself as one of those servant leaders – someone willing to stand by his principles and do what he believes is in the best interest of the country, no matter the political cost. This wasn’t a surprise to me, of course. On the campaign, I watched him consistently make decisions based not on what was most expedient, but on what was in keeping with his principles.

It’s because of leaders like him that I’m hopeful for the future of my party. As New Politics’ Senior Republican Advisor, I continue to seek a pipeline of bold, values-driven Republicans who are ready to chart a new future for conservative leadership. We’ve already had some big wins, but we need help from supporters like you.
