Friend – the Yemeni people are at a crossroads. We're reaching out for help today because there is now a short window to make an incredible impact.

After nearly six years of constant violence, Yemen faces the world's largest humanitarian crisis. The price of food and other necessities have rocketed out of reach for many trying to feed their families. Health services and water infrastructure have been destroyed, leading to an increase in diseases like cholera. Meanwhile, relief efforts are severely underfunded.

Without intervention, an anticipated 3 million more Yemenis will become food insecure by June. In other words, more than half of all Yemenis will be in grave danger due to hunger.

Last week, the Biden administration declared that the US will no longer support offensive military action in Yemen and will pursue a ceasefire and peace talks. The announcement comes after years of campaigning from Oxfam activists and is a step in the right direction that's only possible because of supporters like you.

Now, we're facing a critical window. As the international community pushes for peace, we need to urgently increase support for the most vulnerable just as the crisis is worsening. We're reaching out to ask for your help.

Right now, there are gaps in the critical aid funding that four out of five Yemenis rely on. Relief efforts are underfunded after the United States and other nations cut much of their funding for Yemen in 2020. Without additional support, the numbers of people experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger could TRIPLE in the first six months of 2021.

Oxfam has been working in Yemen for more than 35 years, and in the past year alone we've provided humanitarian assistance like cash, food aid, and soap to more than 2.5 million people. We've also been advocating for peace, calling for a ceasefire and negotiations to end the conflict, as well as working to ensure civilians are protected.

Even with the Biden administration pursuing a path to peace, we recognize there is no guarantee to an end of the conflict. More action is needed to stop the war.
