** Colorado paid a heavier price economically in its fight against COVID-19 than other states in 2020
------------------------------------------------------------

Denver Post: ([link removed]) For reasons she still doesn’t understand, Sonia Riggs, president and CEO of the Colorado Restaurant Association, said Colorado officials chose to take a harder line against bars and restaurants than other states did.
They did so without presenting studies to show restaurants were a significant contributor to the spread of COVID-19 cases, she said. For example, capacity was capped at 50, even if a dining space was large enough to handle many more using the 6-foot distancing recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.
....
“If we don’t start seeing capacity increase change dramatically over the next few months we will see more restaurants closing,” Riggs said. “True recovery won’t begin for this industry until dining capacity is at 100%.”

** Michael Bennet among four Senate Democrats who have flipped on Keystone XL
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Colorado Politics: ([link removed]) Four Senate Democrats who once backed the controversial Keystone XL pipeline ([link removed]) have switched their position amid changing climate politics.
....
Bennet, who was among the Democratic Party's many presidential candidates in the 2020 cycle, voted against the Keystone pipeline Thursday. But even as recently as the 2020 campaign trail, he found himself defending his vote in 2015 to authorize the project.

** Closed schools are crushing our kids | GUEST COLUMN
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Colorado Springs Gazette ([link removed]) : Dear Governor Polis, OPEN THE DAMN SCHOOLS.
You are the state’s chief executive. No more excuses and no more passing the buck to local school districts. No more empty platitudes about what you “hope” will happen. Governor, it is time for you to do whatever it takes to open the schools. Every kid needs to have the option to attend school full time and in-person.
And until the schools are open, I don’t want to hear one more lecture on how Colorado’s COVID response is based on science.
Our kids are being crushed. They are sad, lonely, they are suffering. They are killing themselves. They need to be with their friends. They need sports, theatre, chess club.
Speak up, lead, DO something!

** Boebert bill would reverse Biden’s lease ban, other fossil fuel actions
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Grand Junction Sentinel ([link removed]) : U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has introduced legislation that would reverse President Joe Biden’s indefinite ban on oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters.
The measure, called the Protecting American Energy Jobs Act, also would nullify an initial 60-day moratorium on new mining plans and oil leasing and drilling on federal lands and in federal waters issued by Biden, and well as his revocation of a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline and his moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
