Just a few days ago, Ayanna joined Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and her House colleagues Ilhan Omar, Mondaire Jones, and Alma Adams to push President Joe Biden to cancel $50,000 in debt for federal student loan borrowers.
The student debt crisis is an issue of both racial and economic justice, and as communities — particularly Black communities and communities of color — continue to deal with the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, people facing crushing student loan debt need bold, high-impact, and broad-based debt cancellation to prevent an even deeper economic crisis.
Ayanna isn’t letting up in the fight for student debt cancellation — she needs our support to continue pushing for this much-needed relief.
For too many Americans, student loan debt has already caused them to delay their dreams. Now, many of those people are also facing lost wages and financial hardship brought about by this pandemic.
The American people are on our side. The movement is on our side. Justice is on our side. President Biden has the power and authority to cancel $50,000 in debt for every student loan borrower — and he should do so right away.
