John,
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez once said, “In order for one of us to make it
through, a hundred of us have to try.”
Right now, your email inbox is probably full of fundraising appeals from
candidates across the spectrum. Democratic organizations, progressive
candidates, battleground Democrats, and so on.
That’s because end-of-quarter is one of the most important times of the
year for political candidates. On Sept. 30th, they’ll have to start
compiling public reports for how much they raised over the past three
months — a critical sign of strength for their campaigns.
And it’s an important time for us too, as you’ve heard in the past. But
this fight is bigger than us — it’s bigger than the Squad, than Justice
Democrats, than the entire progressive movement. We’re working to
radically change the way our democracy works, which means we have to do
something radical.
[ [link removed] ]That’s why Justice Democrats is helping Jamaal Bowman unseat Eliot
Engel, build his people-powered progressive campaign, and meet a critical
end-of-quarter goal. Will you help us do that by donating
$3
to him right now?

Jamaal’s campaign has already helped pushed Engel to the left on
impeachment, but there’s so much more work that needs to be done. Every
day, he’s on the ground organizing the communities of New York’s 14th,
building a coalition, and combating powerful special interests.
His voice is vital for our democracy. Jamaal refuses to accept the excuses
of members of Congress who are more than willing to spend billions of
dollars on weapons of war as our children need their teachers to pay out
of their own pockets for school supplies. He will not tolerate a
government that hands out massive contracts to arms manufacturers and
human rights abusers as the federal government claims there’s nothing to
be done about the crushing weight of student loan debt.
But that’s not the kind of thing corporate donors and establishment
Democrats like to hear. As Jamaal builds his movement, he can’t rely on
corporate executives to bankroll his campaign. He’s relying on us, so in
this critical time, we need to have his back.
[ [link removed] ]Will you step up alongside thousands of your fellow progressives and
chip in to Jamaal’s campaign before the Sept. 30th FEC deadline? A
powerful showing on that public report is critical to putting Engel’s
corporate Democrat campaign on notice:

I don’t have to tell you we’re up against some entrenched forces, because
you’ve already seen it firsthand. Progressive policies have been blocked
or watered down for decades because we haven’t had leaders who are
courageous enough to fight for them.
But in 2018, you showed up, and the results speak for themselves. Our
incumbent Justice Democrats have already changed the conversation on a
Green New Deal, helped fight for Medicare for All, reshaped foreign
policy, and were some of the first to demand Donald Trump’s impeachment.
That’s what can happen with a handful of folks who are willing to speak
truth to power. Now, just imagine what would happen with 10, 20, or 50
more — that dream starts with electing Jamaal Bowman to New York’s 16th
district.
In solidarity,
Alexandra Rojas
