John, the Constitution is clear. The 14th Amendment prohibits any person who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States from “hold[ing] any office... under the United States.”

Here’s the thing: Trump didn’t just commit sedition when he incited the riot at the Capitol on January 6th. He laid the groundwork for violence by consistently and intentionally undermining faith in the election, which he lost. He spread lies about the election for months, claiming he won. And then he tried to intimidate Georgia’s Secretary of State to overturn the results.

As the Democratic House impeachment managers said: “His incitement of insurrection against the United States government — which disrupted the peaceful transfer of power — is the most grievous constitutional crime ever committed by a president."

For the sake of our very democracy and the integrity of our Constitution, Trump MUST be convicted and disqualified from holding office ever again.
