In this impeachment trial of Donald Trump for inciting a violent insurrection to overturn the will of the American people, Republicans will have a clear choice.

They can honor their oath to defend the Constitution by holding President Trump responsible for his actions, or they can place partisanship above what’s right for America.

The facts and the timeline of Donald Trump’s traitorous crimes are clear for all to see because they happened in the public domain. The violence came directly into our Capitol, and people tragically lost their lives.

Our democracy is premised on the idea that the will of voters is sovereign. We can not ever be a country that allows a tyrant to use disinformation and bullying to seize power. That’s not who we are as Americans, but it appears to be who the Republicans want to be.

They have a choice and will make it when they vote to convict, or when they fail their duty to our Constitution.
