Did you hear? Yesterday, working people won the fight to get House Democrats to include $15 minimum wage in their relief package. Though this is a really huge step towards victory that’s been years in the making, we’ve got a long road ahead of us to make sure it becomes law.
Our movement will be watching closely to hold Democrats accountable to passing this provision in the final stimulus package, alongside direct stimulus checks for all. If they don’t, Democrats will have to answer to a coalition of labor unions, activists, and the young people who organized like hell to commit to a bold relief package that raises the national minimum wage.
After all, we must not forget the thousands of Americans continuing to struggle to survive through this pandemic. We cannot forget that people need relief now. And with the Democrats newfound majority in the Senate, they have the power to provide this relief. But immediate relief is only the beginning to fill gaps and make sure people get the support they need.
With you on our side, we will, and must, expand on the economic stimulus by creating millions of good, green jobs. We’ve got a big campaign in the works to make the Green New Deal a reality that we can’t wait to show you, but it’s going to take resources to put it into action. That’s why I’m personally asking you: can you make a $5 contribution today? [[link removed]]
