Team,

On January 6 President Trump incited a mob of his supporters to violently storm the Capitol to overturn the results of a free and fair election. The insurrection was an assault on our democracy, and it remains a stark reminder of the dangers of extremism and the fragility of our democracy.

I joined 231 of my House colleagues from both sides of the aisle to impeach President Trump for his role in inciting the violence at the Capitol. My vote to impeach Trump was not a partisan decision -- it was to send a strong message that our democracy is not up for grabs.

Today the Senate will begin hearings on President Trump's involvement in inciting the insurrection at the Capitol. These hearings are not about politics; they're about holding President Trump accountable for his actions and preserving our democracy.

We have a responsibility to the American people, and we must set a precedent that anyone who attempts to subvert our democracy will be held accountable.

Thank you,

Chris Pappas
