Friend,
I've said it once and I'll say it again -- at this point in time,
politics are irrelevant in the age of COVID.
COVID-19 doesn't know what your political affiliation is -- and if it did, it wouldn't care. The fact remains the same: Our rural communities are struggling. The time is upon us for uplifting our rural counties, towns, and villages across America out of extreme levels of food insecurity, unemployment, and economic woes --
and it's long overdue.
One out of five Americans live in rural communities -- communities that produce crops and raise livestock that keep the rest of us fed. Our small business owners, grocers, and health care workers are barely staying afloat, especially in rural areas.
And right now because of the pandemic, many of them are without employment, shelter or lacking access to health care.
What we can't do is assume generic legislation will address the specific challenges of rural communities.
That's why Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and I reintroduced the Rebuild Rural America Act to Congress, which will invest $50 billion in rural communities to address their specific needs.
Rural Americans have been boxed out of the policy discussions happening in D.C. for years, and they do not have a council of lawyers on retainer to lobby for them. It's time we step in and make things right by passing the Rebuild Rural America Act.
I might be a congressman, but the real power lies with you, friend. If you're with our fellow Americans in rural communities, join Sen. Gillibrand and I by becoming a citizen co-sponsor of the Rebuild Rural America Act >>
Thank you for standing up for your fellow communities, team.
Onward and upward,
Antonio
