You can learn more about With Dems, watch last Friday’s presentation and register for a future presentation here. NDN is very proud of this work, and are excited to bring it to you each week.
Walking Away From Radicalism, Trumpism– In the days since Jan 6th, the national Republican Party has had repeated opportunities to walk awayfrom the radicalization of the Trump era, and has repeatedly refused to do so. Let us hope that in the coming Impeachment Trial the GOP Senates takes the opportunity to create clear distance from Trumpism, and join Democrats in convicting him for what has to be single most significant attack on our democratic system by a sitting American President. If this is not something which deserves the harshest penalty a democracy can offer, what else could it be?
Republicans had a chance to end Trump’s dark hold over their party in the 2020 Impeachment, and failed to do so. They were rewarded with a catastrophic COVID effort, an economic collapse and an attack on our democracy. If they fail to cut from him this time, what should they expect next? One shudders to imagine, frankly.
Let us hope the GOP takes this important off-ramp from Trumpism and extremism, and begin the process of once again becoming a more conventional, responsible center-right party familiar to democracies throughout the world.
Sincerely,
Simon, Georgia and the rest of the NDN team
