Executive Actions are not a substitute for comprehensive legislative relief. We need to act now.

Friend,
President Biden has proposed the boldest, biggest administrative step in decades to lift impoverished families up and reduce food insecurity for struggling families. The executive orders he signed on January 22, which increase and expand SNAP benefits, are a critical lifeline to millions of families that cannot afford to wait. Hunger Free America takes great pride in our role successfully advocating for these administrative actions.
However, these actions are not a substitute for comprehensive legislative relief. And for long term changes, we need you to ask Congress to act now.

This bill would provide comprehensive economic relief including:
* Raise the national minimum wage to $15
* Provide direct payments to struggling Americans
* Extend AND increase emergency unemployment benefits
* Extend a federal moratorium on housing evictions
* Extend the increase to SNAP (formerly called food stamps) and WIC benefits
The President’s plan to provide “equitable economic relief” is everything we’ve been fighting for in these trying times, and provides tangible actions to significantly reduce poverty and hunger in America long term. We need to do our part to turn these plans into actionable solutions.

If, as the President said, “we cannot and will not let people go hungry,” then we must make our voices heard.
Thank you,
Joel Berg
