Helping children when and where they need it most
Valentine’s Day this year is likely to find a lot of teenagers and young adults at home bingeing Netflix instead of having that romantic date. During the pandemic, relationships have been hard for kids to start — casually bumping into your crush is near-impossible and it’s tough to flirt from six feet away — and maintaining connections isn’t much easier when getting together requires careful logistics.
This week on childmind.org we discuss the challenges of dating during the pandemic. Many kids are taking a step back from romantic relationships, because they’re just too complicated right now. For teens who are dating, parents are nervously negotiating ground rules and struggling to balance COVID safety with respecting kids’ privacy. And for kids who’d like to be in a relationship but aren’t, parents’ support can help them stay connected.
