[[link removed]]Hi,

We are in what is already a busy and combative state legislative season … and we
need your help to ensure we fight back against every anti-transgender piece of
legislation that comes our way.

Right now, we are tracking dozens of bills in state legislatures across the
country — and many of them are targeting the rights and dignity of transgender
people, especially our transgender youth. Here’s just some of what we’re seeing:

* Right here in Alabama , I am working with leaders and advocates on the ground to halt a bill that
would impose criminal penalties on medical professionals providing
science-based and medically needed care to transgender youth.
* In Montana and Mississippi , our teams are working to stop bills seeking to ban transgender athletes
from participating in sports consistent with their gender identity.
* In South Dakota , we are fighting a bill that prohibits transgender individuals from
correcting the gender marker on their birth certificates.

These are just a few of the attacks we are seeing. That’s why I am asking you to
join the Human Rights Campaign by condemning these atrocious bills and working
with us to stop them. Sign your name here.

Legislators need to stop acting like bullies in statehouses — using the same old
tactics we’ve seen time and time again to discriminate against the most
vulnerable among us.

And it’s on us to do something about it. The Human Rights Campaign is calling on members
across the nation, including in DC, to take action
against hate and sign your name!

Add your name: tell legislators to back off our youth!

This is just the beginning, you know. We expect even more
battles in the months to come as our opponents work in retaliation for all the
progress unfolding before us.

That’s why I hope you’ll take a moment to sign our petition. The more signatures
we get, the more pressure we can put on elected officials to reject these
hateful bills.

But, as we always do, we are fighting tirelessly to stop these bad bills … and,
of course, to pass as many pro-equality bills as we can. Just last week, the New
York legislature repealed a law that allowed police to arrest and detain anyone
they suspected to be engaging in sex work — colloquially, it was called the
“Walking While Trans” bill because so many transgender women were targeted. We
were happy to support the incredible advocates and activists who fought so hard
to defeat it.

Thank you for lending your voice to defend the rights of the most vulnerable in
our community.
