Last month, Trump became the first president in the nation’s history to be impeached twice. Now, he should be just a few days away from being convicted in the Senate. But the GOP doesn’t care about facts, or our democracy, or the rule of law.

Republicans are bending over backwards to make sure Trump walks away unscathed — like mafia henchmen would for their mob boss.

They’re calling it a sham. They are saying it’s unconstitutional. They even threatened to impeach former President Obama. But their desperation to protect Trump is only destroying their own party.

Republicans think they can get away with putting a criminal over the American people. They don’t deserve to hold public office. We want accountability, and we want it now. The GOP has nowhere to hide. No excuse to use. And the American people know it.

A majority of Americans say Trump “bears at least some blame for the Capitol insurrection,” and about half say the Senate should vote to convict him.

So it’s clear that they don’t care about protecting democracy. They don’t care about what you have to say. They don’t care about defending the constitution. They only care about serving one person — Trump. And for that, they don’t deserve to be in Congress.
