Friend –

Right now, the majority of Senate Republicans are trying to sweep the deadly attack on the Capitol under the rug – along with accountability for the person responsible: Donald Trump.

This moment demands timely and decisive justice. It demands that Trump answer for inciting a violent mob – because he wanted to overturn the results of a democratic election. Words have consequences. Trump's own words prove his guilt.

The evidence is very straightforward: Trump lied for months claiming the election was stolen from him, including at the rally that preceded the insurrection. He literally instructed the mob to march to the Capitol, saying he would be with them. (Another lie.) Instead he watched from a safe distance. He did nothing. Even as the rioters tried to locate and kill his own Vice President. He closed the day by saying that he "loved" those who participated in the attack, calling them "very special." It is now a question of whether or not Republicans want to step up, and face the facts and history. If the Senate fails to convict, it will set a dangerous precedent that threatens our very democracy.

That's why I'm fighting to bring Trump to justice in the Senate, and I need to know if you're with me on this. I'm counting on 5,000 more concerned Americans to let me know where they stand before midnight, so please tell me now:

Should Donald Trump be held accountable for inciting insurrection at the Capitol?

History will recognize and remember those who failed to act. It will not forget who cowered and valued partisan politics over our democracy in the aftermath of an insurrection and calls for assassination.

Thank you for being on the right side of history.

Dick
