John, Last week was Gun Violence Survivors Week, a dedicated time to uplifting survivor voices, and I’m sure you were able to read countless stories that inspire our movement. But the reality of being a gun violence survivor is that the stories we bring to this fight are with us, and can affect us differently, every day.

Both of us lost our moms to gun violence and we’ve each spent over a decade missing them every single day. And that’s why we are in this fight, John: we cannot allow another mother to be murdered or another child to lose their parent. And now, we are finally at a turning point for gun violence prevention, and we need your help to make real change happen. We are building on a legacy of life-saving action against gun violence that has always put survivors at the heart of our work. Our namesakes, Sarah and Jim Brady, survived his shooting and dedicated their lives working on both sides of the aisle to pass life-saving legislation. Today, gun violence survivors lead at Brady, setting multifaceted policy that addresses the complex epidemic we face. We know how to save lives, John, but we need your help to do it.
