Dear Friends,

We’re writing to you today to invite you to an online briefing this Thursday, February 11, from 5-6 p.m. MT to discuss our constitutional climate change case, Held v. State of Montana. This case was filed by 16 Montana youth in March of 2020 and asserts that, by supporting a fossil fuel-driven energy system, which is contributing to the climate crisis, Montana is violating the youth plaintiffs’ constitutional rights to a clean and healthful environment. The youth plaintiffs also argue that the state’s fossil fuel energy system is degrading and depleting Montana’s constitutional protected public trust resources.

During this free online event, you’ll have the chance to hear from some of the young plaintiffs, and their attorneys, as they discuss why they decided to join the case, how climate change in Montana is affecting them, and much more! You’ll also learn about their upcoming hearing, scheduled for next week on February 18th where attorneys for the youth plaintiffs will present oral arguments on the state’s motion to dismiss. You can watch those proceedings online on the 18th at 9 a.m. MT via this link: https://bit.ly/39Yer2T. The password is 797388.

But first, join us LIVE this Thursday for the online briefing and show these brave youth plaintiffs that you stand with them in solidarity! RSVP here: https://bit.ly/3jyCKaH

In the meantime, you can also show your support for this case by signing a wall of support here and making a donation here.

Thanks for your support,
