John,

The climate crisis demands that we quickly move away from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy. And with a new administration, we have a new opportunity to do just that.

That’s why Food & Water Watch has joined a coalition of progressive allies to fight for climate justice and identify immediate actions President Biden needs to take to keep fossil fuels in the ground and prevent further climate catastrophe.

As more and more people come together to demand real action against fracking and climate change, we're ramping up our national campaign to ban fracking nationwide and #BuildBackFossilFree. We’re demanding that President Biden stop new fossil fuel projects, get rid of taxpayer-funded handouts to Big Oil & Gas, and move off fossil fuels with a just transition to clean, renewable energy.

We have the power to protect our families and communities from reckless, dangerous drilling. And YOU can help move us forward.

Join with others across the country in a week of action from Monday, February 8 to Saturday, February 13 to tell President Biden: You can’t “build back better” unless you #BuildBackFossilFree.

Here’s what you can do to spread the message:

1. Create a sign that says why we need to #BuildBackFossilFree, and what we are fighting for or against.

#BuildBackFossilFree No More Pipelines!

#BuildBackFossilFree Ban Fracking Now!

#BuildBackFossilFree Protect Our Water!

2. Take a photo of yourself — or a small, COVID-safe gathering — in front of a specific fossil fuel project you are fighting against, at your Congress member’s district office, or in any outdoor space.

3. Share your photo(s) on social media with the hashtag #BuildBackFossilFree. Then, tag @JoeBiden, @POTUS and other decision-makers in your city, state or county to make sure your message is seen and heard. And finally, be sure to also tag us so we can retweet and share — @FoodandWaterWatch on Facebook, @FoodAndWater on Twitter, @foodandwaterwatch on Instagram.

Here’s a sample social media post for you to get started: I’m joining @foodandwater & thousands of others to tell President @JoeBiden: You can’t “build back better” unless you #BuildBackFossilFree. We need you to end the era of fossil fuels, #BanFracking, and invest in a thriving economy that works for everyone.

President Biden has a huge opportunity to stand on the right side of history. It’s time for real action to protect our environment. That starts with all of us demanding change and holding the president accountable to “build back better” by building back fossil free!

Join me and thousands of others from February 8 to February 13 in urging President Biden to take the bold climate action we need to address the climate crisis.

Onward together,

Thomas Meyer
