On Saturday, February 6, 2021, Congressman David Scott was joined by Clayton County Senior Services and Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services at Mundy’s Mill High School in Jonesboro, GA to distribute 500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Clayton County residents ages 65 and older.
“We must take measurable steps to get vaccine doses into the arms of our people—particularly to help those who are most vulnerable to the virus,” Scott stated.
“I am proud to partner with Clayton County Senior Services and Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services to provide this much needed relief,” continued Scott, “and I will continue to work feverishly in Washington to make sure that our district receives additional doses of the vaccine.”
Participants also included:
- Atlanta Black Nurses Association
- Clayton County Public Schools
- Clayton County Police Department
- The Ronnie Thames Foundation
- Georgia State Firefighters Association
- IAFC - International Association of Fire Chiefs
- IAFF Center of Excellence
With limited capacity due to the availability of the vaccine, registration was open to those ages 65 and older, and appointments were scheduled based on availability. The second doses of the vaccine will be distributed on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
