Hi John,

I wanted to share a letter from congressional staffers I read to Senate leaders on the House floor calling on them to convict Donald Trump. By reading this letter, their experiences and their stories of the January 6 attack on our Capitol will go into the official record.

In their open letter to every U.S. senator, these staffers wrote, “Our Constitution only works when we believe in it and defend it. It's a shared commitment to equal justice, the rule of law, and the peaceful resolution of our differences. Any person who doesn't share these beliefs has no place representing the American people, now or in the future. The use of violence and lies to overturn an election is not worthy of debate. Either you stand with the republic or against it.”

If you would like, you can read their full letter today.

This letter is a powerful reminder of the duty our senators have to uphold in the upcoming conviction hearings. For the sake of our democracy and our future, I hope they listen and do the right thing.

More soon,
Mary Gay
