Hi John — I know you don't typically hear from me in this regard, but given the urgency of this moment, John Podesta asked me to reach out to you today.

John and I go way back through a few presidential administrations, as you may know. And it is gratifying to me that we both find ourselves at CAP now, working with the Biden-Harris administration to build a pathway for national recovery — John in his role as board chair and me leading policy development. That's why I invite you to join with John, me, and other like-minded CAP supporters, as a Champion for Progress with a monthly gift today.

We need your help. To achieve our ambitious policy agenda and build a sustainable recovery for the next four years and beyond, we need progressive visionaries like you to make a monthly commitment today and become a Champion for Progress. Will you help us reach our goal of 100 champions before March 1st?

Yes! I'm a Champion for Progress

As a CAP Champion for Progress, you will be the lifeblood for our organization; Champions sustain us through the known and unknown with resources we can count on as we advance critical priorities:

  • Recover from the Pandemic - CAP remains focused on creating the solutions we need to get Americans through the virus to a better post-pandemic future. Impact must include a rapid vaccination rollout in the immediate term and more resources to help Americans balance work and family in the long-term. It includes policies like preserving and expanding access to childcare, better wages for working Americans, and reopening our schools so our children and teachers can return to in-person learning—safely.
  • Rescue our Planet - You and I know we MUST address the climate crisis. Creating net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, if not sooner, will not only slow climate change but will also provide enormous opportunity for resilient infrastructure; new, sustainable jobs; workforce training; and can help repair the damage done to communities that have felt the impact of environmental racism.
  • Rewire America’s Economy and Realize Opportunity for All - Covid-19 has underscored the weaknesses in our economy which have increased the wage and wealth gaps in rural communities and cities across the country. CAP is putting forth economic growth plans that are sustainable and equitable, that create high-wage jobs and leave no one behind in skills development and education.
  • Restore our Democracy - Beyond repairing the national division that was so clear over the last few years, we also need to address the erosion of our democracy and tolerance for right-wing nationalism that brought our country to its most critical constitutional and democratic crisis just a few weeks ago. We need to restore our democratic norms and safeguard against the complicit acts that brought us to the brink.
  • Resolutely Fight for Racial Justice and Equity - From the air we breathe to where and how we are educated, to building and maintaining wealth, to treatment within our judicial system, the tenets of our democracy and society too often have been rigged against Black people, Indigenous people, all people of color. Communities of color have been marginalized and set up to fail. That must end. We require - demand - racial justice and systemic equity. And we’re working with the Biden-Harris administration to build plans that can deliver it.
John, we have a lot of work to do, and we need you by our side. Please take this step: join Champions for Progress today as a monthly donor right away.

Yes! I'm a Champion for Progress

America will thank you for it. And I will, too.
