Hey John,
The city of Berkeley is funding the next pandemic, animal cruelty, and global environmental catastrophe. This "progressive" city is spending taxpayer dollars on an unsustainable and cruel industry: animal agriculture. Despite our reports of concerning diseases and animal abuse at farms used by their supplier, the city is still ignoring the issue. That is why tomorrow, Tuesday, February 9th at 6PM, we will come together to Protest Berkeley's Inaction on Climate Change and Animal Cruelty outside the Mayor’s house where we will ask him loudly and boldly to stop spending city funds on animal products. You can join the action online! The event page will be updated with Zoom instructions. If you are joining in person, we will be meeting at 1900 Milvia Street in Berkeley, CA.
If you're interested in getting more involved in this active community, apply to become a chapter member at dxe.io/apply.
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all will be taking place in Pacific Time, unless otherwise noted).
- Saturday, February 13th, 11AM: No More Factory Farms: California All Hands Call - Right now, the animal agriculture industry is expanding in California. Despite the deadly pandemic caused by animal exploitation and the hundreds of slaughterhouse workers in California falling ill, our state has refused to take action to stop this dangerous industry. Instead, new factory farms and slaughterhouses are being built — and our government is even funding the construction! DxE is calling for a radical shift. The No More Factory Farms campaign is building public pressure for a moratorium stopping the construction and expansion of factory farms and slaughterhouses. This is a powerful and achievable first step to shutting down these places of violence once and for all — but it’s going to take people throughout the state working together to make it happen. If you live in California and you want to be a part of the No More Factory Farms Campaign, then this is the call for you! We have big plans to expose factory farms in CA and demand a response from state leaders, but we need your help to make this campaign successful. Join the call to learn more and get plugged in. See the event page details for the Zoom instructions.
- Sunday, February14th, 6PM: Movie Night: Pussy Riot Punk Prayer - Join us on Sunday to watch Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, a movie three young women who face seven years in a Russian prison for a satirical performance in a Moscow cathedral. But who is really on trial in a case that has gripped the nation and the world beyond, three young artists or the society they live in? After we watch the film, people may stick around to discuss the film together! Use this Zoom link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84443394573
