On Tuesday, February 2, New York State lawmakers voted to repeal the “Walking While Trans” ban. Many brave community advocates worked hard to make this victory possible, and their efforts were strengthened by countless advocates like you. Thank you for helping to shape New York into a more just, more equitable home for us all!
No longer will the “Walking While Trans” ban exist to encourage racist and gender-based profiling by law enforcement. New York State just took a step toward addressing a long history of unjust policing practices, and showed that it is capable of honoring its progressive values with concrete action.
Stay tuned for info in the near future about the next frontier of our statewide advocacy work. We have more progress to make, and more barriers to shatter!
Thanks for all you do,
