Claremont Institute welcomes Seth Barron as managing editor at The American Mind; David Bahr to move to senior director of communications and marketing
Claremont, CA, February 8, 2021—The Claremont Institute is pleased to announce the hiring of Seth Barron as managing editor of The American Mind and the internal move of David Bahr to senior director of communications and marketing for the Institute.

Seth Barron joins Claremont after serving for three years as associate editor of City Journal, a publication of the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, where he also ran the NYC Initiative. Barron writes regularly about New York City politics, and his work has appeared in the New York Post, the Wall Street Journal, and elsewhere. His book, “The Last Days of New York,” will be published this May by Humanix.

David Bahr moves from his former editorial position as managing editor of The American Mind to senior director of communications and marketing, where he will lead organization-wide public relations efforts, including the strategy, development, and implementation of press outreach for the Claremont Institute’s new Center for the American Way of Life and Claremont alumni initiatives.

“Bahr is back in his old public relations haunting grounds, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Claremont Institute President Ryan Williams. “2021 is shaping up to be one of the most successful years for our organization, which means it will also be one of our busiest from a communications and marketing perspective, so it’s nice to have David at the helm.”

Amanda Callanan, former head of communications, has decided to assume a more limited role to allow more time with her growing family. Claremont is delighted that she will continue to work with the Institute as the new marketing manager for the Claremont Review of Books.
