Welcome to the new Reproaction Activism and Joy Newsletter!
We are so excited you’re here! Each month, we’ll feature upcoming events and actions along with tips for self-care in activism and resistance.
It’s almost Valentine’s Day and we’re celebrating by reaffirming our commitment to reproductive justice. Expanding access to abortion is an act of love, and there’s no better time to get involved than the season of love!

Self-Care
Self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism. Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and face masks, it’s about self-preservation and survival. It is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face.
Here are some self-care tips for February:
Meditate. As activists, it is essential that we prioritize our own well-being in our work. Taking the time to pause and check-in with your body can help you identify anxiety and stress and increase mindfulness. Not sure where to start? Netflix’s Guide to Meditationoffers an introduction to the practice. The series shares techniques that can help ground you in the present. - Caitlin, outreach and culture manager based in Alexandria, Virginia
Pick up a new hobby. I recently started crocheting for the first time in my life, and while I'm no expert, it definitely gets better with practice! Crocheting helps keep my hands and mind busy, and the feeling you have when you finish a project is unmatched, no matter how long it took or how hard it was. I also love to throw on a good show while crocheting, and I'm currently obsessed with WandaVision. - Nataley, organizer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Create moments of joy: With the world continuing to be uncertain and troubling, being intentional about making joy happen can be great for stress relief and for keeping those smile muscles in check. Have a dance party or eat cake for breakfast! Whatever you need to make you smile and feel genuinely happy is great to keep at the top of the to-do list! Need a safe space or accountability for making your own fun? Check out @clubquarantine on Instagram for queer-friendly and sometimes star-studded Zoom parties! - Tenaja, campaign coordinator based in Greensboro, North Carolina
See you next month!
