Let me encourage you with a few facts about our Party. I’m your acting Chair until Party elections at May 15 State Convention.
There is continuity and organization in the Hawaii Republican Party.
We have a roster of 39,000 members, 30% more than the 29,000 mark after the 2015 Presidential caucuses. Hawaii’s 2020 vote for the Republican Presidential candidate increased 56%, to 198,000. Our caucus meetings’ turnout, just beginning this month, are attracting more than double the usual turnout. (See below my signature for more encouraging Party history).
The blizzard of unfair name-calling in the mass media is blowing by with our confidence shaken a bit but standing firm. Dozens of steadfast volunteer leaders are organizing right now – answer their calls, respond to your postcard-notice for your precinct meeting, send in a donation, Support the Hawai'i GOP (winred.com), let’s work!
Nationwide our Party controls 2/3 of State legislatures (66 of 99), and the 24 Republican legislature-controlled states are larger in total population (185 million) than the 15 Democrat-controlled ones (120 million). We gained seats in the House when all predicted we would lose, and need only 11 more in 2022 to retake control. We held the Senate to a tie, restricting Democrats freedom of action. We have hundreds of good newly appointed life-tenure constitutionalist judges in the Federal Courts.
And Hawaii just erupted with unprecedented and spontaneous popular caravans for President Trump’s re-election. Many of these new Republican voters are coming to our Party precinct meetings.
So now is not the time to feel depressed or dispirited. Now is the time to work for the growth and unity of our Party. Winners work, losers loaf. As your acting Chair I ask you to donate, to recruit new members, Hawaii Republican Party (list-manage.com), to attend your precinct caucus meeting, and proudly support our Hawaii Republican Party! "Good schools, good jobs, good government, a chance to own a home. These are not unreasonable demands. But, sadly more and more of our people have already lost heart and have left Hawaii to look for these things." Linda Lingle (adapted)

Remember, we are the Party of Prince Kuhio who, without even a vote in Congress, secured land for native Hawaiians, founded the Hawaiian Civic Clubs, and was beloved by all. Native Hawaiians filled many Territorial House & Senate seats and supported Republicans for decades. One of our longest serving National Committeewomen, Bina Mossman, was a well-known Hawaiian singer. Hawaii’s first elected governor, Bill Quinn, established the executive branch of our government. Our Senator Hiram Fong was the nation’s first Chinese Senator, and our former Congresswoman and 2X State Chair Pat Saiki was instrumental in stopping the bombing of Kahoolawe and getting banking and credit rights to women.
We are the Party of Abraham Lincoln, for “free soil, free labor, and free men,” who restored the Union, freed the slaves, founded the land grant university system, set aside Yosemite, the first national park, and enabled the settling of the West with the Homestead Act.
We are the Party of trust-busting Theodore Roosevelt who defeated the robber barons, established national parks, and made us a world naval power.
We are the Party of civil rights, the 13th & 14th amendments, women’s suffrage, opposition to Jim Crow, and WE, not the Democrats, wrote the 1964 Civil Rights Act and provided the majority of votes in Congress to pass it after decades of Democrat sandbagging.
We are the Party of ending wars, not starting them: Eisenhower and Nixon ended hot wars, Reagan ended the Cold War, and President Trump just ended any need for Middle East wars.
Our Governor Lingle won every district in the State in her second term. Hawaii voted for Reagan and photo-finished for Nixon. Recently Republican-leaning candidate Keli’I Akina was re-elected to OHA, Rick Blangiardi handily won for Honolulu Mayor, and President Trump gained 70,000 voters since last election.
And our State Party organization has been growing stronger. Membership has increased 30%, from 29,000 to 39,000, since the 2015 Presidential caucuses. The Honolulu County Committee is more active than ever. All 4 Neighbor Island County Chairs are actively organizing caucus meetings. Kauai just reported an average of 33 attending each of their 3 district caucus meetings and nearly filling their delegations at once.
