In 2006, Congress placed a crushing burden on the Postal Service: Raise nearly $75 BILLION toward a pre-funding retirement mandate that covers half-a-century and covers employees who haven’t been hired yet, may never be hired, and some of which are not even born yet. Sound outrageous? That’s because it is: No other federal agency, not a single one, has a similar financial mandate. This pre-funding mandate is a major reason the USPS is financially insolvent and bipartisan lawmakers are warning: If this mandate isn’t repealed the USPS may not survive. The solution? Repeal the mandate! It actually is that simple. And that’s exactly what the USPS Fairness Act will do. It’s time to save USPS: Demand Congress pass the USPS Fairness Act without delay.
