John,
Wowzers—the net neutrality landscape has been a rollercoaster these last few months.
In November and December, we fought hard to keep Simington off the FCC. When short-sighted members of Congress appointed him in an unprecedented move, we were really worried about whether or not we’d be able to win back net neutrality in the next couple of years.1
Then, Democrats won control of the Senate after the Georgia runoff and the new Administration appointed Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel as the acting chair of the FCC.2 Rosenworcel has been a vocal supporter of net neutrality, actively arguing against Pai’s repeal. She is already making moves to make the Internet more affordable and accessible.3
Momentum is on our side, but we’ve got to ramp up our work NOW to make sure reinstating net neutrality is prioritized by Biden and his Administration.
Rush an urgent donation to Fight for the Future to ramp up efforts to win back net neutrality!
Even with Commissioner Rosenworcel as acting chair, the FCC is still in a 2-2 deadlock. And with everything going on in D.C., appointing a permanent chair might get pushed to the backburner. We can’t let this happen.
In the midst of the pandemic, how people are harmed by the digital divide has become even more clear. People are unable to get online for work, school, and to access life-saving information about COVID-19. No one should be at the mercy of Comcast and Verizon right now.
We need to reignite our Battle for the Net and get thousands of people to take action, get businesses to sign letters, make the media cover this issue, engage critical voices like first responders and people suffering from lack of access during the COVID-19 pandemic, and organize with other groups to push net neutrality back up to the top of the Administration’s list.
But from emailing and texting our list, to sending press releases, and staff time meeting with Congressional offices, we need your support to do all this work. In the past thousands of people have donated to fight for net neutrality. We need your support again to finally win. Please chip in today.
