Every dog deserves a comfortable home and a loving family’s affection—but even on the coldest of winter nights, “backyard dogs” are still chained or penned outside, shivering alone.
On these long, lonely nights, it can be a struggle just to survive. But today, you can help offer shelter—plus a little affection and love—to a dog who would otherwise have none.
Valentine’s Day is one week from today—but the holiday will be just another day to a neglected dog deprived of love, comfort, and even the most basic care.
By making a gift of just $2 or more before Valentine’s Day, you’ll be giving all this to a dog in desperate need:
You’ll give a dog relief. When PETA fieldworkers find a dog suffering from flystrike, fleas, ticks, or other parasites, your support helps us treat them. Your gift today will also be matched with a bowl of vegan dog food from our friends at v-dog—helping our fieldworkers supply nourishing dog food to animals whose impoverished owners are experiencing hard times.
You’ll give a dog joy. With every doghouse that we deliver, we take along a toy, since so many animals have nothing to break the monotony of a life of isolation in a barren backyard. If a dog is found tethered by a heavy chain, we replace it with a lightweight tie-out that is less likely to tangle or twist, giving them a bit more freedom to move.
You’ll give a dog love. Our job isn’t done when we deliver a doghouse. PETA’s fieldworkers visit the dogs they help regularly—sometimes for years—to check on their welfare, lavish them with the affection they crave, and do whatever we can to improve their lives.
For many of these dogs, the love that YOU help us send to them may be the first kindness they’ve ever known.
Of course, we want every dog to enjoy their family’s love indoors this Valentine’s Day. But if our fieldworkers aren’t able to persuade an owner to bring a dog inside as part of the family, we do all that we can to make that animal’s life a little less miserable.
We rely on the generosity of supporters like you to help the animals who others have forgotten or neglected—and your gift can make a powerful difference for dogs whose only hope lies with caring people like us.
Thank you for helping our team reach every dog we can this winter.
