John,
I’m proud to announce that I was re-elected today as Chairman of the Minnesota DFL Party. It has been the honor of my life to work with you to strengthen our party over these past ten years, and I look forward to the privilege of serving another term.
Last year, if you had told me we had to run a completely virtual campaign due to a pandemic and take our most effective persuasion tactic – doorknocking – out of our toolbox, I would have said there is no way we would be successful.
But against all odds, thanks to the hard work of so many DFLers across our state, we were successful. We built our largest-ever coordinated campaign, delivered Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, re-elected Senator Tina Smith, kept our House DFL Majority, shrunk the GOP senate majority, and re-elected two fantastic first-term congressional members in Angie Craig and Dean Phillips.
The DFL Party must be firing on all cylinders going into this next election because so much is at stake. We’ll be taking on redistricting and reorganizing local units and the 2022 midterms, where all 201 of our state lawmakers, all of our members of Congress, and all of our state’s Constitutional offices will be up for election. The good news is that the DFL Party is stronger than we ever have been, and with an amazing new slate of leaders at the helm of our party and our movement, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.
There will be no bigger battlefield in the country than Minnesota in 2022. The work must start now, but we can only be successful with the continued support of reliable DFLers like you.
If you’re able, will you pitch in $10, $25, $50 (or whatever you’re comfortable with) so we can build the long-term infrastructure we need to keep Minnesota blue?
John, this is our call to action. The next generation will inherit what we do with this moment. Let’s show people throughout Minnesota that no matter where you live, where you’re from, your background, or who you love that the Minnesota DFL – the party of Humphrey, Mondale, and Wellstone – will be their champion.
Thank you. I am humbled and honored to lead this party.
