We start this new Jewish year on Sunday in unprecedented times, but
we start it together, with resolve and power to enter 5780 with all
the love and holy resistance this moment demands.
From all of us at Bend the Arc, we wish you a L’shana
Tova, a happy and righteous new year.
As we prepare for the holiest days of the Jewish year, we’re
reflecting on what it means to ask for forgiveness while our
government commits crimes against immigrants in our names.
And we’re recommitting to hold our government accountable.
Next week, during the Days of Awe between Rosh Hashanah and Yom
Kippur, Bend the Arc
leaders are hosting actions and events across the country
to demand their members of Congress atone for our
government’s cruelty to immigrant families.
From the📍Bronx, NY to📍Denver,
CO,📍Cleveland, OH to📍Seattle,
WA, and📍Sunrise, FL to📍Philadelphia,
PA, thousands of Jews are organizing to say “We remember and
we demand action to end cruelty against immigrants seeking
safety.”

We remember the
names of the children who have died in US custody.
We
remember the families kept in cages, without soap, blankets, or
water.
We remember the screams of children whose parents
were rounded up in raids.
If you’re not in a city with an event, we’ll have ways for you to
communicate with your members of Congress next week.
Because just this week, Congress — both the House and Senate —
officially denied President Trump’s requests for
billions of extra dollars for detention and deportation.
🎉 This is mainly because of the work the Defund Hate Coalition, in
which Bend the Arc plays a leadership role. 🎉
This victory is a communal one and it could not have been possible
