John,
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi shared this week that she supports the creation of a "9/11-type commission" to address and investigate the events that took place in the U.S. Capitol on January 6th — echoing a key part of the COUP Act, Jamaal's first bill that calls for an investigation into the Capitol insurrection. This is on top of the news that 66% of voters — including 61% of Republicans and 59% of Independents — support such a commission as well.
Bold and progressive ideas are no longer "radical" or out of left field, John; they are popular, winning ideas, and this latest development surrounding the COUP Act proves just that. It's moments like this that prove to us that our hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
That's why it's so important to continue to grow our movement and continue pushing bold and challenging legislation that faces the scale and scope of the crises our communities are facing.
Our government needs leadership like Jamaal's now more than ever. We need leaders who are dedicated to rooting out systemic injustice and racism in our institutions, and breaking down the inequitable status quo that has left our most vulnerable communities without support.
Jamaal is determined to continue fighting for these same communities and work to bring the real, long-lasting change we've fought so hard for. The widespread support of the COUP Act is proof. But the only way we'll see this change come to light is with your support, John.
Thank you for your support,
Team Bowman
