Dear John,

Bees are disappearing faster than we ever thought possible. According to a new
report, one quarter of all known bee species have not been seen in the wild
since the 1990s. That’s 25% of all bee species that may be extinct or close to
it. We have to take action before we lose our bees forever. Support Friends of the Earth with a $10 donation today.

It’s staggering when you think about it. There are around twice as many species
of bees as there are bird species -- 20,000 unique species of bees, across seven
different biological families. But new research from the Global Biodiversity
Information Facility shows us that a full quarter of these have gone missing.

Think about that for a moment -- a quarter of bee species may now be so rare
that no scientist has observed them in nature for the last three decades. This
was true for not one, but five thousand different species.

We don’t know if these species have gone extinct -- perhaps they have simply
become so scarce that they are no longer observed in the wild. Or perhaps many
of them are truly gone forever. What we do know for sure is that this is a
crisis, and we need to act immediately, before it is too late.

Count me in! I’ll chip in $10 to defend bees before it’s too late.

[[link removed]]Scientists are sounding the alarm that bees are suffering devastating losses and
we are running out of time to save them. But this isn’t a done deal -- we can
still help save bees and our other precious pollinators. We know how to address
this crisis because we know what’s fueling it.

One of the biggest culprits? Pesticides like Bayer-Monsanto's neonicotinoids and
glyphosate, aka Roundup. Pesticides are among the biggest contributors to
massive declines of bees and other pollinators.

These toxic pesticides are used everywhere from backyard gardens to industrial
agriculture. And they’re not just harming pollinators. From breakfast to dinner,
most of us eat toxic pesticide-contaminated food several times a day. And these
pesticides have been linked to a host of devastating health impacts from cancer
and reproductive harm to learning disabilities.

Big Ag’s toxic pesticides are risking the health of people, pollinators and our
planet, all for the sake of corporate greed. They have no plans to stop.
Instead, they are determined to double down on their destructive path.

Don’t let Bayer-Monsanto drive bees to extinction. Support bees with a $10
donation to Friends of the Earth.

[[link removed]]At Friends of the Earth, we know how to take on corporate greed, save vulnerable
species, and win. It’s what we’re built for.

Our strategy includes a nationwide ban on neonics and other toxic pesticides
that kill bees. We’ll be pushing the Biden administration to protect people,
pollinators, and our planet. At the same time, we’re pushing major grocery
companies like Kroger to stop selling food grown with these bee-toxic chemicals.
And we’ve launched a new campaign to move Home Depot and Lowe’s to follow
Costco’s lead and pull Roundup (aka Bayer-Monsanto’s glyphosate) from its
shelves.

When people like us take action to protect bees, it works. Last year, Friends of
the Earth members like you successfully pushed two state governments to ban the
bee-toxic, brain-damaging pesticide chlorpyrifos. You’ve made calls, submitted
comments, and persuaded key Congresspeople to champion legislation that would
protect our pollinators and our health.

Together, we’ve transformed the garden industry, including convincing Home
Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, True Value, Ace Hardware and Walmart to eliminate
bee-killing neonic pesticides in garden plants. And we are working to break the
stranglehold of powerful agribusiness monopolies on our food system and our
government.

Our strategy to save the bees is smart, comprehensive, bold, and what we need.
But it relies on support from members like you. And as this latest report
reminds us all, time is short to turn this crisis around.

Act now to protect bees for the long haul, before they disappear forever.
