The Trump-Pence administration's immigration policies were nothing short of inhumane — families separated at the border, children locked up in cages, and the fight to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Action For Childhood Arrival (DACA) programs for the thousands of recipients — many of whom call Texas home.
That is why I am so glad that President Biden and Vice President Harris have used their first weeks in office to take steps to reverse the years of harmful and imhumane damage caused by President Trump and his Republican sycophants in Congress.
Just this week, President Biden took another step at protecting and reuniting families who have been intentionally and cruelly separated under the previous Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance immigration policy”— a policy that separated at least 5,500 families and has left over 600 young children not being able to find their parents.
I am proud that we have an Administration that finally stands up for all Texans and ensure our nation can finally heal from four years of tournment — because we deserve a better future. For the first time in four years, we have leaders that are committed to standing on the right side of history, and I am committed to working with my colleagues in the Democratic-led House and Senate to advance policies that help all Americans.
