Governor Hogan delivered his seventh State of the State address, applauding “the courage, the sacrifices, and the strength” of the people of Maryland for “powering” the state through the COVID-19 crisis. In the speech, Governor Hogan pledged to defeat the pandemic, deliver emergency economic relief “lay the foundation for strong, long lasting economic recovery, and to continue telling the people of Maryland the hard truths about the pandemic. 

Meanwhile, as COVID-19 relief negotiations in Washington once again descend into a partisan fight, Governor Hogan is showing how to work across the aisle to deliver results. Earlier this week, the Maryland Senate unanimously passed [link removed] Governor Hogan’s RELIEF Act, which will provide immediate tax cuts and economic stimulus for Maryland families, small businesses, and those who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic. Governor Hogan proposed this emergency legislation less than a month ago.

Governor Hogan delivered his seventh State of the State address, applauding “the courage, the sacrifices, and the strength” of the people of Maryland for “powering” the state through the COVID-19 crisis. 

In the speech, Governor Hogan outlined his plans to defeat the pandemic, deliver emergency economic relief, and “lay the foundation for strong, long lasting economic recovery.” 

Governor Hogan also pledged to continue telling the people of Maryland the hard truths about the pandemic. 

According to Governor Hogan, “the truth doesn’t know party affiliation. It doesn’t care what any of us think or what we want. So many of the problems we face today as a nation are because politicians refuse to tell the hard truths when it doesn’t fit their agenda...Let’s continue to set a shining example for the rest of America by showing that we are Maryland Strong, that we refuse to succumb to the divisiveness and dysfunction that is infecting our national politics. Because the bonds that bind us together as Marylanders are greater than all that divides us.”

While Washington Bickers, Maryland Senate Unanimously Passes Governor Hogan’s COVID-19 Relief Bill

As COVID-19 relief negotiations in Washington once again descend into a partisan fight, Governor Hogan is showing how to work across the aisle to deliver results.

According to Governor Hogan [link removed], “while governors are on the front lines distributing the vaccine, we cannot afford to wait on Washington to get its act together...I urge Congress to vote on this immediately.”
