John,

Today, we remember and honor our namesake and hero Sarah Brady, as she would have turned 79 years old. As we recognize both her birthday and Gun Violence Survivors week, Sarah remains an inspiration to all of us, and a reminder of why we continue this life-saving work every day.

Sarah dedicated her life to saving others after her husband, Jim Brady, was shot in the head and nearly killed during the assassination attempt of President Ronald Reagan. Turning tragedy into political triumph, she fought for over seven years, not resting until she beat the NRA and passed the landmark Brady Bill, establishing our nation's first background check system for gun sales.

Sarah's dedication to fighting for others and her determination to turn grief into change is the passion that we uphold at Brady to this day. Gun violence survivors remain at the heart of our work. Their stories inspire us to keep working toward a better future for our country and our powerful survivor network is what will bring Sarah’s dream of a nation free from gun violence into reality.

To honor both Sarah on her 79th birthday, and all victims and survivors of gun violence, will you sign our pledge to commit to preventing gun violence? We must never stop fighting to end gun violence in their honor. [[link removed]]

Help Us #ProtectChildrenNotGuns Alongside the Children's Defense Fund and Team ENOUGH!

Next weekend marks three years since a gunman murdered 17 students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Florida, physically injuring 17 more. Parents tucked valentines into lunch boxes for their children that would never be read. Friends bought candygrams they would never have a chance to exchange. And children across our country witnessed yet another act of gun violence as a consequence of adults breaking promises that it would never happen again.

Tragically, they’re not alone: In America, 3,371 children and teens ages 0-19 die from gun violence every year in the forms of gun suicide, everyday gun violence, unintentional shootings, and more. John, we know we can’t bring back those we’ve lost to gun violence, but it’s not too late to secure the safety of future generations and honor victims and survivors with legislative action.

That’s why we’ve partnered with the Children’s Defense Fund and Team ENOUGH, our youth-led initiative, to demand Congress prioritize gun violence prevention immediately. This Valentine’s Day, we’re asking you to take two actions to honor all victims and survivors of gun violence:

❤️ Sign our petition urging Congress to prioritize gun violence prevention

❤️ Tag your representative on social media with a Valentine’s Day card on behalf of victims and survivors of gun violence

As millions of Americans prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day without loved ones lost to gun violence, let’s show them they’re not alone and join them in demanding action! Together, we can give all Americans the best Valentine’s Day gift of all: a life free from gun violence.

🎧 Episode 115: The Danger of Hoaxers and "Alternate Truths:" Rep. Greene, Alex Jones, and More

Fred Guttenberg and Andy Parker are both fathers who each lost a beloved daughter to senseless gun violence. And tragically, both have been viciously attacked by so-called “truthers" — like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene — who spread baseless lies about mass shootings and tragedies being hoaxes or "false flags." Increasingly, those with extremist conspiracy beliefs are subjecting survivors like Fred and Andy to further trauma. For this episode, our guests share what those experiences have been like — and how we can help them fight back.
