Labor's 321 Update – What you need to know

John,

Here's Labor's 321 Update – it's what you need to know about happenings in politics right now and how you can help make a difference by sharing these stories, where you can.

What a week for the Hughes electorate. We’d say Craig Kelly’s antics have jumped the shark. Welcome to 2021!

Also this week Labor tackles the Industrial Relations Bill, Scott Morrison’s unwanted emissions and social media platform’s dependency on disinformation.

Our socials covered making things again in Australia, a cornerstone policy for Labor. Meanwhile we await a plan from the LNP that is not just about cutting pay for our most vulnerable and our service workers.

Also this week, where does Scott Morrison sorta stand on emissions targets? The answer is sorta, well, not really… Labor’s policy is net zero emissions by 2050. Simple.

Worth looking at the investigation into NSW LNP bushfire relief. Do they really think they can get away with rorting a relief fund for bushfire victims? Bushfire Rorts: Coalition targets bushfire recovery funds for Coalition seats.

What’s going on with civil debate in parliament? Labor it seems is not really allowed to speak, and then there is the Member for Hughes. Despite his disappearing Facebook posts, Morrison is aware that Craig Kelly’s Facebook page is often more popular than any other member of the LNP. On average Kelly has been posting 9 times a day. Craig Kelly serves a valuable megaphone for the LNP.

It’s been a tumultuous start to 2021 with the effects of disinformation being writ large with the storming of the US Capitol. HBS has an interesting take on the scale-centric business model that has inadvertently supported disinformation and how difficult the walk back is.

Until next time,

Australian Labor

P.S. John, we can’t risk a snap back to the Liberal agenda of cutting services, suppressing wages and undermining job security. Australia needs a plan for the recovery where no one is held back or left behind. We need your help to protect our society from the Liberals.  Will you chip in $5 to help stop the Liberals?
